Blazing Heath/Heideglühen fromMichaela Büsse, was a multi-channel audiovisual installation examining the complex history and contested afterlife of former Soviet military training sites in Brandenburg, Germany. Following the Soviet troop withdrawal in the early 1990s, these landscapes — shaped by decades of tank maneuvers and gunfire — were handed over to nature conservation initiatives and now function as "living laboratories" for studying species adaptation. The work combines data-driven, visual, and sonic monitoring to explore how the toxic legacies of military occupation are made visible or invisible within scientific data, asking how past violence continues to shape present-day conservation practices. For this piece I recreated the maps of specific areas in Brandemburg and animated them using motion graphics.
